Hanson Family Donation

Hanson Family Donation

Lois and Raymond Hanson’s children gathered for the presentation of $100,000 given to the Palouse Community Center, in memory of Raymond Hanson. Pictured are: Eric and Sue Redman, Lois Hanson, Ted and Joan Redman, Dennis and Norma Jean Hanson, Denise Hanson, and Patti (Redman) McAtee.

The family of Raymond Hanson has donated $100,000 towards the new Community Center. Raymond was a world-famous inventor—especially remembered locally for his invention of the automatic leveling device for hillside combines. His manufacturing facility, RAHCO, was
located on Cove Road.

His wife Lois is a Palouse High School graduate, as are all six of their children. A permanent monument honoring his lifetime achievements is at Heritage Park, across the street from the new Community Center building. Mr. Hanson passed away in
2009.

This tremendous donation has set in motion plans for ground-breaking in 2011 for the new building. Fund raising continues, to fully fund the building.
